Gloucester hoped to redeem themselves after a disappointing defeat at Franklins Gardens on the opening weekend. But after a good performance last weekend, Worcester hoped to maintain their form and prove they were a Premiership class side.

One of Gloucester’s many young stars, Jonny May, and opened Gloucester’s scoring after a sharp interception of a Joey Carlisle pass. Taylor who started ahead of Burns converted giving Gloucester an early 7-0 lead.

A confident looking Tim Taylor added six more points from penalties in the next few minutes and added another just after the thirty minute mark.

May looked like he could score again after a strong break. He passed on to Vainikolo who was brought down with about 5 metres to the line. Worcester’s Marcel Garvey was sin-binned for impeding play during the attack. Taylor scored the subsequent penalty and rounded off the half with Gloucester in a 19-3 lead.

The second half was much quieter than the first and the attacks did seem to die down and the play became somewhat dull.

With fifty-five minutes on the clock, Goode missed a penalty meaning Gloucester still lead Worcester by sixteen points.

With sixty-two minutes played, substitute, Freddie Burns extended Gloucester’s lead further by scoring a penalty. Voyce went over for Gloucester’s second in the final quarter of the match and Burns converted. With twelve minutes remaining, Gloucester lead by 28 points to 0.

Rasmussen scored nothing but a consolation try on the eightieth minute for Worcester and Goode failed to convert once again.

In front of a 12,000 plus strong crowd, Gloucester performed well but the same couldn’t be said for the disappointing Worcester Warriors who were given a reality check by their West Country rivals.
