Armitage will face a disciplinary hearing in Auckland on Monday at 0100 BST. The player could be banned for two to ten weeks or a number of World Cup matches.

The citing will come as a blow to England after Armitage performed strongly against Scotland. Courtney Lawes was banned early on in the tournament following a dangerous move on an Argentine player in England's opener.

More to come.
