Gloucester's Freddie Burns stretches for the trylineGloucester ended a nine game away losing streak against Exeter at Sandy Park. The visiting side looked keen to end away woes and put in a strong performance against their west-country rivals.

The sides were fairly even in the early stages as an Exeter penalty was followed by a Burns try for Gloucester. Exeter replied with a try from Tui after a strong forwards drive. Exeter missed the conversion but the scores were fairly level at 8-7 to the home side.

A Steenson penalty extended Exeter’s lead to 11-7 on the half hour mark.
But Qera went over the line with three minutes left of the half, giving Gloucester the lead. Burns converted and the Cherry and Whites led by 14 points to 11. A Burns penalty miss rounded off the half with Gloucester holding a 3 point lead.

Full back, Olly Morgan scored a try in the opening stages of the half for Gloucester, an excellent conversion from Burns made victory almost certain as the visitors led 20-11.

A penalty with 11 minutes to go extended Gloucester’s lead to 24 points to 11. An interception try came for Exeter in the last minute of the game, they couldn’t convert and the game ended with Gloucester winning 24-19.
