They have been impressing ever since they entered the Aviva Premiership. Promotion was the best thing to happen to Exeter Chiefs for years and now they are pushing for the Aviva Premiership title – something they do have a real chance of winning.

Some will argue that the likes of Saracens, Leicester and Harlequins will be too strong for Exeter but their first challenge is to cement a top four place. The Chiefs will take on fifth place Northampton this afternoon in a game that could decide whether they make the play-offs or not.

They've beaten Leicester twice this season and made a good run in the Amlin Cup just missing out on victory over Stade Francais in the final stages. But the Heineken Cup rugby they will play next season is a far cry from where they were two seasons ago.

When Exeter played their first ever Premiership match at Sandy Park back in September 2010 they won with conviction. Beating West-Country rivals Gloucester 22-10 will be one of the highlights of their time in the Aviva Premiership but there have been many more moments to remember since then.

If they can get into the semi-finals and maybe the final of the Aviva Premiership, they can stake their claim to the rest of Europe that they are an elite side that can challenge for important trophies.

It’s their chance to shine and they must grasp the opportunity. With a solid fan base and a brilliant coach in Rob Baxter, Exeter have a real chance of winning the Aviva Premiership. As long as the Chiefs are able to live up to their tagline of 'The West Country's Premier Rugby Club' they will do their fans proud.
