WP travelled to Johannesburg to try and secure a semi final place. The Lions need the win to ensure a home semi final. WP welcomed back Demetri Catrakilis to the ranks, but still had players missing due to injury.

Bandise Maku opened the scoring for the Lions after just 6 minutes with. Elton Jantjies converted the try. Demetri Catrakilis kicked a drop goal and penalty to keep WP in striking distance. Jantjies added two penalties and Catrakilis one before Jaco Taute scored another converted try for the home team. The halftime score 20-9.



After the break WP came out with a vengeance. They spend a lot of time in Lions territory and were rewarded. Catrakilis landed 3 penalties to bring them back into it. With 20 minutes left in the game the score being 20-18. To the Lions. A second Taute try. Unconverted this time by Jantjies. Martin Bezuidenhout added another try after a great break by Alwyn Hollenbach set him up. Jantjies converted the try and a penalty to make it 42-18 with 5 minutes left. WP did score a late consolation try through Deon Fourie.

The Lions are assured of a home semi final for the first time since 1999. WP will have to win their remaining game to make it to the semi's.
