- Martyn Thomas steps down from roles at RFU
3 November 2011
The Rugby Football Union's acting chief executive, Martyn Thomas, is set to step down from all his current positions with the Union. The decision comes after a meeting with the RFU management board and the former chairman has also stepped down from the committee organising the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England.
The roles that Martyn Thomas will leave are:
- RFU acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
- England Rugby 2015 Chairman
- Six Nations Committee member
- IRB Council member
- European Rugby Ltd director
This leaves the RFU in turmoil as they are yet to decide on Martin Johnson's future and do not have a captain as Lewis Moody has retired from international rugby.
