The first of the Southern hemisphere quarter finals are played by two teams that knows each other well. They have faced 76 times with the Springboks winning 44. Of late though the Wallabies have won 4/5.

Australia came into the RWC as the favourites to win the competition. The Irish showed that they are beatable if you play clever rugby against them. They will want to become the first team to win the RWC 3 times and the first to do it after losing a game. Injuries to key players will hamper them. They will be though team to beat.

The Springboks has won all their games in the so called pool of death. They have had tough games vs Wales and Samoa and came of rather unharmed. Frans Steyn being the only real casualty in the team. This is a big loss but they have the players to replace him and stand his boots full. Their defence is still a bit suspect. They do however have the best goal kicker at the RWC in their team. If they keep their focus and don't become over confident they can beat Australia hands down. They will want to become the first team to win the RWC 3 times and the first to defend the title successfully.

Every time these two teams have met in the RWC the winner went on to win the title. Will history repeat itself? Only time will tell.

My heart says Springboks and my mind concurs. Springboks by 7 minimum.
