The events that unfold on the pitch at Adams Park on Saturday will go down in Premiership history. London Wasps and Newcastle Falcons are separated at the bottom of the Aviva Premiership table by four points.

A Wasps win would ensure their Aviva Premiership future and would allow them to look at re-building their club structure after a season of despair for fans, players and staff alike.

Newcastle only have a small chance of survival. They need to win by 24 points or more, or win with a four-try bonus point providing Wasps don't get any points from the match. It is a realistic possibility but travelling Newcastle fans are probably advised to prepare for the worst.

The last three matches between Wasps and Newcastle have all been won by the host team on the day. Newcastle won the last fixture back in October by a margin of 15 points to 10. Wasps were victorious on the occasion before with a 33-16 victory and the Falcons won again in 2010 by 29 points to 17.

London Wasps have lost all of their last three games against Bath, Harlequins and Biarritz. Newcastle on the other hand were successful against Sale and Gloucester but narrowly lost to Saracens in their previous match.

Whatever happens on Saturday will shape the future of the club that ends up facing the drop and will also define the future's of many of the players and staff involved.

Prediction: Newcastle to win by 5 points - this would still mean they are relegated but would still prove they are a club capable of top flight rugby.
