I think it's fair to say that the Cardiff Blues have had a tough time this season. They haven't enjoyed much success on or off the pitch and their luck doesn't really seem to be changing with no fewer than 13 first team players leaving the Welsh Region.

However, after a whole season with no Director of Rugby, the region has announced that they have started searching for one. This news was received well by Blues fans as a Head Coach does often tend to be an important and somewhat essential for a professional Rugby team don't they? Since Dai Young left the Cardiff based side to take up a role with the London Wasps last year they had appointed the forwards coach, Justin Burnell and backs coach, Gareth Baber to take control of the squad.

The Blues somehow made it to the quarter finals of the Heineken Cup but didn’t manage to impress in the RaboDirect Pro 12. However the two coaches were given the backing by the board until the end of the season. Now that we're sadly reaching the end of the rugby season the start for the search the new Blues Coach has started... but who should it be?

The Favourite – the favourite for the job is former Llanelli Scarlets Director of Rugby Phil Davies. Davies spent a few years at the Scarlets and did well. He is the current forwards coach at Worcester and still has time left on his contract.

The Maybe Man – The maybe man for the job is Kingsley Jones. Jones played rugby for Wales and is currently a favourite on BBC Wales for the rugby coverage. Experience with coaching as he was with Sale Sharks for a number of years.

The Possible Return – With London Wasps struggling financially it may not be a surprise to see Dai Young make a return to the Region. He was at the Blues since the very start and built up a very strong team.

The Unlikely Man – Many fans are saying that they think Ian McGeechan would be the perfect man for the job. An unlikely candidate but if it did happen would he be any good?

My Opinion - Not many Blues fans would agree with me, but this is who I think would be good. Former Ospreys man Sean Holley. He did well with the Ospreys and knows his rugby. He is currently unemployed  and is young. I think he's exactly what the Blues need.

Who do you think would be a good employment for the Blues? Post a comment below!
